Up cycled and recreated fashion and furnishings from discarded tyres, tyre tubes and other waste mixed with natural products.
With a background as a clothing manufacturer, then when Chinese imports destroyed the market in South Africa, Colleen Deetlefs became a fashion buyer. Passing a pile of discarded tyres one day in 2013 … she had an idea. The result is an incredible range of work that is reasonable for the buyer, fashionably stylish, durable and helps the environment.
You can find her work at Woza Moya, on Saunter 3 and here, on the map at Embo Craft. You can visit her studio by appointment from late August.
