Lovely views through floor to ceiling glass windows, of the Leeu Estate with the Franschhoek mountains as backdrop, enhance this contemporary dine in or on the terrace, restaurant’s look. Multi course menus, 4 to choose from, and of choice wine pairing, shows an artful chef who with an excellent team, balances divine flavours with a beautifully styled look. Unusually, two of the menus are vegetarian. The Chef’s Experience Menu is often written about but the Reduced Menu is the same, just a few courses less.
From the amuse bouche with unexpected teasing of flavours, things may seem familiar, but there are hints and depths of surprising deliciousness that merge into a very good taste experience, course after delectable course. The descriptions are tantalizingly minimalist: Confit mussel, coconut, parsnip or Karoo lamb, celeriac and Kapokbos but do no justice to the actual taste.
This Little Dove, and baby sister of renowned Contantia restaurant, La Colombe, has truly come into its own and has been steadily winning awards.
This is fine dining to compete with Michelin starred restaurants worldwide, while the cuisine reflects the best that the Cape has to offer. It is not cheap and reflects the hours of craftsmanship which goes into each mouthful. Excellent and reasonable wine menu options. A very worthwhile culinary destination.
