The gallery exhibits the works of a few carefully selected artists and sculptors.

Makiwa Gallery is steadily growing a collector base in South Africa and overseas, notably in Germany, UK, and the USA.

***

The owner is artist Makiwa Mutomba (born 1976 in Zimbabwe).
In his third year at university studying Electronic Engineering, he quit and started painting for a living.

In the resort town of Victoria Falls, he sold miniature paintings at the roadside to tourists (hanging paintings from
tree branches).

Makiwa developed a love for the knife as a painting tool.
Makiwa Moved to South Africa in 2001 where he quickly found representation in reputable Art
Galleries in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.

In 2009 Makiwa’s painting won an award at the SNBA (Societie Nationale Des Beaux-Arts)
at the Carrousel Du Louvre, in Paris. He has exhibited at numerous solo and group exhibitions world wide.

In 2014, Makiwa opened Makiwa Galleries in South Africa in Durban, Franschhoek, and Hermanus.

Most of his art is now sold through Makiwa Galleries to art
collectors in South Africa and all over the world, particularly Europe and USA.

The gallery always has other interesting artist. The photos reflect some of the work of Marlien van Heerden.
