“Swissland Cheese became my LIFE PROJECT, started in 1992, as a self taught hobby.
Coming from a dairy farming background, I had the opportunity at an early age experimenting making goats cheeses, during the years before the new food culture started.
The timing of the two, created a perfect platform for my hobby to become a small business. I am passionate about everything in my business, the goats, the cheese and sharing my beautiful farm with the public.
I am also passionate about music, so by inviting musicians and families together for our popular Live Music Picnics, on the first Sunday of every month, I get to have fun on my farm too!” says Francine.
A winding road with a view around each corner, leads to the top of the Swissland hill where you can feel the tranquillity and peace far from the madding crowds.
A small herd of healthy, happy, free roaming Saanen goats provide pure healthy milk. This is used to create the large range of award winning Swissland goat cheeses, free of antibiotics and colourants… from soft, fresh Chevre to a hard, mature Pecorino. There are also Cow cheeses. All made in small batches, by hand.
Sample and purchase the cheeses you like in the quaint Swiss style Chalet. The rolling lawns and beautiful mature trees provide an idyllic setting, comfortable for an impromptu or planned picnic. A cheese variety pack is available for purchase. Other delicious local accompaniments are available to complete Le Picnic. Cheese platter boards prepared on weekends and public holidays, provide a picky treat. Goats hang over the fences calling for a scratch.
It is a wonderful place for young families and adult groups alike. Children can feed the goats with the food provided in the shop. Milking can also be viewed daily between 3.30pm and 4.30pm, from August to May.
Closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day.
