Two squirrels who had reached the age of retirement but were still full of energy, talent and determination lived in a house which had long been called “The Nut House”. It was so-called because, Una and Malcolm, were never afraid to give an idea a chance. An Embroidery machine was acquired and Tea Towels were made as gifts for friends and family. The friends and family had other friends who saw the finished product and wanted to buy for themselves. So … The Nut House embroidery was born. It continued and still continues to grow as more and more people see the finished product.
Today, the nominal 47cm x 70 cm Tea Towels can be found from Durban to Umhlanga Rocks, the North Coast, the Midlands, Johannesburg and as far as Knysna. They are made from an absorbent cotton fabric and thanks to a very special lady, Cynthia Goba, each Tea Towel is pre-washed and pre-shrunk before being individually ironed and packed in our packaging. They are ideal gifts for tourists and people traveling overseas because of the weight and size.
The Nut House skills work on towels as well and make wonderful wedding gifts with His and Hers or personalized names on commission.
