Getting there, access and fees
It is about an 11 hour 45 min drive from Cape Town (1081kms) and Johannesburg is 10 hours 30 mins (917kms). From Durban to the park is 1446kms and it takes around 15 hours 10 mins.
In South Africa, head for Uppington which is 257kms (2 hours 30 min drive) from the Twee Rivieren Gate. You can fly to Uppington from CapeTown in 90 minutes, or Joburg in 1 hour 45 minutes and hire a vehicle in Uppington. There are no direct flights from Durban, so go via Joburg and it will take 4 to 6 hours. Port Elizabeth also has no direct flights, so go via Cape Town or Joburg and it will take 4 to 8 hours.
There are five access points to the park: From Namibia- Mata Mata, from Botswana – Kaa, Mabuasehube and Two Rivers in Botswana and from South Africa- Twee Rivieren. The only time you need a passport is if you go in through one country and leave via a different one.
*Twee Rivieren Park Entrance Gate Opening Times:
All year the gate opens at 07.30 hours.
It closes in Jan, Feb, and November, December at 19.30. It closes earlier in March and October at 19.00 hours. in April, August and September it closes at 18.30. Mid Winter- May, June and July it closes at 18.00 hours.
