The African Art Centre Association provides thousands of unemployed artists and craftspeople with opportunities of self-employment and economic upliftment and the ability to earn a sustainable living. We reach out to some of the poorest communities in KwaZulu Natal; the youth, rural women, the disabled, the unemployed and persons affected by HIV and AIDS. Training is provided both in-house and by bringing in workshop facilitators who lead in their fields. A number of now well known artists and crafters have been trained and supported by the African Art Centre.
We have built a reputation for supplying specialized, high quality products hand crafted products. Every purchase made from the African Art Centre supports a sustainable income for more than 1 000 crafters supported by the centre. Visit our shop to see our range of basketry, wire art, beadwork, embroidery, pottery, wood work and fine art. Unusual colours are used alongside the traditional work and this gives our jewellery and other pieces an edge over other craft shops. We show some exceptionally good art.
