Contemporary artist specialising in acrylics and occasionally using resin, Ali obtains her inspiration from the ocean and nature.
“Many of my paintings are named after sea creatures, sea life, or nature… I may see and depict a sea creature, but someone else may see something … different.
My paintings … make for interesting conversation….. and… debate! ” Visit this passionate painter at her studio in her stunning beach front home.
She produces a myriad of large canvases all containing a kaleidoscope of acrylic colours, each one oozing Ali’s vibrant personality.
The depth of movement on each canvas is phenomenal.
An ardent water baby as an ex- national swimmer, she stand up paddle boards and occasionally surfs. Often painting through the night, Ali admits to waking up at times to check on her paintings. “I check that the movement and the mixture of colours is how I had imagined them to be. If not, I use various techniques and methods to create the look I want. It’s incredibly therapeutic and rewarding to see the finished product”.
Ali’s work has been appreciated not only by South African buyers and interior decorators but increasingly, abroad. Two of her pieces were chosen to be displayed and
auctioned at Frieze London 2018.
Ali has successfully extended her creative passion, from nature inspired canvases, to bringing her art to life on various items including a home décor range
with good quality table linen, scatter cushions, wallpaper and crockery.
