Born in Durban in 1958, Audrey completed her schooling at the Johannesburg School of Art, Ballet and Music early, due to the need to earn a living. She has no formal training beyond that and describes herself as being born to paint. From 16 she worked her way around Europe. She held her first solo exhibition at the age of nineteen in Zurich.
In 1982, she returned from Europe and created 3D art of the Masters, giving herself an education in their work and techniques as she did so.
In 2003 she was granted a patent for her ‘pod’ sculptures. These are “Pod People”… people made from palm fronds and her work lead to employment for those unskilled crafters she taught.
Audrey is a surrealist painter, innovator and sculptor, drawing her inspiration from the Bible and the beautiful natural world.
Constantly invited to exhibit, many of these exhibitions are as a Solo artist. In 2022, she won in the Signature Piece Category at the South African National Awards.
