Cascades Mountain Bike Park is home to MTB Downhill World Champion, Greg Minnaar. This venue is free to visit and ride in and is open all day, every day.
The routes are maintained by the MTB Commission and are world class with challenging and technical routes in and out of tree cover, with ups and downs and switch backs to get the heart rate shifting gear. There are a number of XCO, XCE and Downhill trails. It is the only triple course in the country. Since it opened in 2009, Cascades has hosted 3 MTB World Cup opening rounds and the 2013 MTB World Champs. Described as “superb riding”.
There are also many trails for less experienced mountain bikers riders.
It is a very popular place, not just for MTB but also Hiking and Trail Running.
While Cascades is seen as very safe, there have been incidents in 5 plus years. If you look at the arial photo, the advice is to keep out of the Eastern/ side to the right of the purple line unless in a large group. This is purely precautionary. Of interest: The red route line on the map is the 20km loop for the SA Marathon champs.
There is parking behind Cascades Lifestyle Centre.
