In a stunning setting at the base of the Stellenbosch mountains are six acres with landscaped gardens, wild fynbos covered areas and lovely meandering trails which reveal some 60 sculptured bronzes by Dylan Lewis.

There are wide open spaces and secret nooks with statues representing a decade of Dylan Lewis’s work. The bronze sculptures vary from small to monumental and cover subjects including his iconic abstracted fragments of lion and cheetah, birds, man in dynamic frame and mythological satyrs. Some work explores the wilderness in the world and in ourselves. Some convey incredible power. The setting could not be more perfect!

***

Widely recognised as one of the world’s foremost sculptors of the animal form, he initially focused on the big cats; in recent years, he has used the human figure to explore our relationship with our inner wilderness.

Allow time to explore and savour this wonderful outdoor gallery. A little cafe gives you a re-fuelling stop and there are places to sit and take time to absorb this sensory experience.

Visits are by appointment only for self guided tours so you get the sense of being alone with the piece and its carefully curated backdrop. A map helps guide you in a 2 km sequence to view the pieces.

Alternately book for the excellent guided tour for 1 to maximum 20 people.

Each season brings its own beauty in this special place but the fynbos flowers in July and August enhance the experience.
