Rustic camp giving you the opportunity to experience Maputaland and feel part of nature. GUGS, is the short version of Gugulesizwe: pronounced gug-gug-leh-seez-where   and it means pride of the people.

This is comfortably modern rustic with a wellness area plus resident therapist for massages, a communal plunge pool and sun loungers, an open sided communal lounge, a colourful bar area and under the skies dining. A forest boma and fire pit allows for long tales into the night.

Beach essentials are provided: snorkelling equipment, towels, shade shelters, beach chairs, beach games and a full cooler box.

A range of drinks and all meals are included in your nightly rate. Many excursions such as guided hikes, visits to the ancient fish nets, community visits with shushinyama and trips to good snorkeling areas are included. Turtle Guided Tours from mid -November to mid- March are charged separately at R995 pp and are the highlight of the area.

A a vibrant feature of our camp’s experience is culinary as you discover the rich culinary heritage of the Maputaland region. Our menu is a celebration of the region’s deep-rooted food culture, influenced by the abundant natural resources of this coastal, forested region. The flavours include staples like maize, wild date palm, peanuts and the fresh bounty of the sea and lake system where we buy our fish catch. Our menu also reflects the rich farming heritage and connection to the land, offering dishes enriched with garden-fresh vegetables and exotic fruits like marula. So, meals are vegetarian with fish added a couple of times a week.  Vegan meals are accommodated by prior request.

There are Medium rooms which are en- suite, with 2 ¾ beds, a USB charging point and fan. There is also a Family Room choice as GUGS welcomes families.

Access is by 4×4 or GUGS transfer.
