The reserve is huge, so plan before you go.
Main Entry Gates
- Nhlange (St Lucia) Gate:Access to Eastern Shores and Cape Vidal.
- Dukuduku Gate:Access to Western Shores. False Bay, and Charters Creek.
- Nyalazi Gate:Access point often used to reach the Western Shores
- Kosi Bay Gate:Entrance for the northern Kosi Bay lake system and coastal forest reserve.
- Nhlozi Gate:Access to Western Shores via N2.
- Mkuze Gate:Access to the Northern part of the park.
- Cape Vidol Gate:Specifically for entering the Eastern Shores/Cape Vidal coastal area.
- Sodwana Bay Gate: Entry to the popular Sodwana Bay marine area.
- Maphelane Gate (Closed until further notice)
Gate Times
- Summer (November – March):05:00 – 19:00.
- Winter (April – October):06:00 – 18:00
Fees: iSimangaliso is a protected area charging entrance fees for adults, children, and vehicles, with fees adjusted annually.
2026 Entry Fees (Eastern & Western Shores)
- Adults (Standard): R64.00 per person.
- Children (< 12 years): R46.00 per child.
- Community Levy: R10.00 per person (mandatory).
- Vehicle Entry (1-5 people):R76.00 per vehicle.
- Accommodated Guests: R15.00 per person per night (if staying within the park).
- Rhino and Wild Cards are no longer accepted. Carry your ID/ or Passport .
Access: Many areas require a 4×4, particularly in the northern sections and parts of the Coastal Forest Reserve.
