Maureen Dixon was born in Zimbabwe to an artistic family. Her interest in art began at an early age and training started at school where
she was fortunate to have an excellent and enthusiastic teacher.
She began painting commercially once in SA, and learnt her skills with established artists such as Christopher Haw who introduced her to the wonders of oils and
a bolder approach to colour. Richard Rennie and Sue Kemp opened the doors to her fascination of watercolours.
This valuable tutoring allowed her to become a qualified Associate of the Water Colour Society of South Africa and later as a Fellow of the Society.
She is still an active member of the WCSSA and has served in senior capacities such as Regional Chairman of KZN branch and as Vice Chairman of the National Executive.
Her work is particularly sought after in KwaZulu Natal but she has been successful in breaking into the Gauteng and International markets.
Her specialist paintings are predominantly watercolour landscapes now.
