Nqabara Eco River Lodge is a incredible Wild Coast destination. With forests and grasslands surrounding the Lodge, an island formed by two crystal clear rivers and over 10 km of beautiful white sandy beaches to enjoy.
This is a tremendous holiday spot for a family or a group as there are 3 cottages, each sleeps 4, as well as a main house which can take 10. Kitchens are fully stocked and braai facilities available. Wooden decks allow stunning vistas of the Wild Coast at its best. There are frequent views of dolphin throughout the year and whales between June and November.
Fishing is excellent, both river and shore line and a boat is available for fishing charter or a lovely trip up the river to explore and enjoy fantastic bird life. We practice Catch and Release and only fish that are to be consumed at the Lodge can be kept. Parks Rules and Regulations mean that you need a Fishing License. Canoes are also available for river paddling. Shell fish can be collected with appropriate permits. With estuary swimming and lovely rock pools to explore at low tide, it is a haven for kids. This is a heavenly spot and if total relaxation is required staff are available to assist with cleaning and even with cooking. There is good hiking and MTB with wonderful views.
Nqabara is a low-impact eco-lodge and runs fully on solar technology. Water is harvested and stored in tanks. Importantly, Nqabara Eco River Lodge is a well managed community owned facility, which is the result of a grant awarded to them by the SURUDEC, through the Eastern Cape Premier’s Office by the European Union. The area is pristine, one of the few places along the Wild Coast that has not been developed. It is designated “environmentally sensitive” and the Nqabara community proudly treasure this status. The people of the area are determined to preserve the beauty and natural heritage that they know is their greatest asset.
