With classic Cape Dutch architecture from the early 19th Century, this is South Africa’s oldest and longest running hotel.

The award-winning property, has a rich history of former explorers and statesmen visiting since its opening in 1802. While its heritage is still alive, the hotel’s interiors are light, airy and contemporary in style, dotted with a few period features and antique furnishings that retain its original character.

The 58 rooms are generously sized and flooded with natural light. Some have a small private patio area or balcony, and all are en- suite.

All have king sized or twin beds, work desks, electronic wall safes, air conditioning, complementary WiFi and high speed internet, direct international dialing, flat screen TVs with satellite channels,  optional stocked mini bars, complementary bottled water, coffee makers, iron, steamer, hairdryers and bath robes.

Room choices:

Comfy Room. Good size, light and comfortable with en-suite shower.

Whimsy Rooms in the historic section of the hotel are impossibly romantic, mixed with modern and old-world charm, and are more spacious. If you are travelling with a child, these are the rooms for you. Free-standing bath and shower in the en-suite.

Plenty Room. Feel your spirit lift in these airy rooms. The largest of our rooms, they offer full bathrooms (shower and standalone bath). Most have lift access. Inter-leading family rooms available.

Take a refreshing break in the poolside garden, unwind with an in room massage or simply relax under the courtyard vines. Breakfast is served under the vines and an all-day menu of light bites is available.

24 hour service is exceptional and the hotel can arrange tours, airport shuttles and trips to wine farms.

There is free, secure underground valet parking.

Set in the heart of Stellenbosch, you can stroll to galleries, museums, historical sites and excellent restaurants and cafes.
