The lovely high ceiling, aptly named Palm Court, has delicious High Teas. There are 2 outdoor swimming pools, one overlooking the beach and a protected one in the lush tropical garden. A 24 seat cinema, gym plus superb spa with hammam give guests many activity options.
There are 86 bedrooms each with either a sea or garden view. Even the small entry level Classic Rooms have a balcony or sliding doors onto the tropical garden, large beds and are beautifully decorated with air conditioning as well as fans. Sea Facing Deluxe Suites and the Garden Villas have private plunge pools. There are Sea Facing Cabanas and lovely Sea Facing Family and Luxury Suites. The Presidential Suite is spacious … over 2 floors with a large balcony, lounge and dining room, a kitchen and its own pool.
Parking is off street. WiFi is throughout and there is a lovely Clock Library for quiet reading space.
One suite is wheelchair friendly as are all the facilities. Small dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. It is a 5 minute stroll to the buzzy centre of Umhlanga Village and its restaurants and shops.
Some guests are especially welcomed by Scabenga, which means hooligan. Scabenga is actually quite a chilled pussy cat and the hotel’s mascot.
