Peter Bonney, was born in 1953 in the Cape but his formative years were in the Drakensberg in the small farming town of Bergville.
His tertiary education was not in the arts but in analytical industrial chemistry.
He worked in that field for some ten years before opting out to take up his first love … painting.
Despite having no formal art training but with much guidance and mentorship in the studio of artist Hannes Du Plessis,
Peter’s work soon began selling well and he held his first one man exhibition in 1986.
He has sold prolifically since and has held thirty one man exhibitions as well as participating in some fifty group shows.
His works now hang in innumerable corporate and institutional collections
as well as in hundreds of substantial private collections both in South Africa and abroad including that of talk show host, Oprah Winfrey.
His work is available from his studio but do call first for an appointment.
