He was privately commissioned to create beautiful bench tops in memory of those who were evicted from their homes in 1968. The benches have “Wag n’ Bietjie” on them… meaning stop and relax for a while as you savour the views.
In the photos, the 2 mosaic girls are now the property of the Spier Foundation.
It is extraordinary that this young man creates as he does, as it is from a small single room apartment.
