A meeting place. Where time stands still, the weary find rest and the adventurous play.

Time is measured by the sun and the changing seasons, and things happen slow and steady. Family owned and run, there is warm hospitality. Stepping onto St Fort takes one back to a bygone era when life was simpler.

St Fort’s sandstone homestead, built in 1913, is nestled below the Mushroom Rock with the Little Calendon river meandering below; creating the quintessential Eastern Free State farm experience. It offers the ideal getaway for family and friends to enjoy a wholesome and authentic farm stay while in close proximity to Clarens.

The Guesthouse. with pressed ceilings and wooden floors, is divided into Main House and the Annex with an inter-leading dining room. So, it can accommodate a group of 10 to 12 guests if required. Beds are extra length king sized and can be set up as singles.

Main House

3 en-suite bedrooms, the main with full bathroom and the other 2 with showers. Shared is the large under floor heated farm kitchen, a spacious lounge with log fireplace and TV, and a dining room.  A veranda overlooks the country garden with the Mushroom Rock in the background.

The Annex

2 en-suite bedrooms with showers, a shared kitchenette and lounge with TV and a log fireplace. A veranda nestled in the country garden to enjoy sunsets.

Garden Cottage

A cosy free standing unit for 2, with kitchenette, log fireplace, TV an full bathroom with shower and bath. It has a lovely view overlooking the dam.

There is good WiFi and TV with Netflx. Fans, heaters, heated blankets, tea and coffee making facilities and hairdryers are in the suites. Everything you need to self cater is provided. Units are serviced weekdays and by arrangement, over weekends.

The farm has excellent hiking trails. The routes have interesting rock formations, caves and there are San Rock paintings.
