An escape: your coastal home away from home, where every detail caters to your peace and connection with nature.
Ubunye is pronounced OOH-BUH-N-YEH and means a close-knit, communal atmosphere. The camp, set in indigenous coastal forest, is steps away from a stunning beach and nearby Rocktail Bay is famed for its teeming underwater life. It is a place to escape to, an unspoilt protected area where you feel you are part of nature.
3 meals and a small range of drinks are included in your board. This is about sustainability, so food is vegetarian/pescatarian, the latter sourced from sea and lake, by fishermen using age old fish traps. More than a meal, dining here is an immersive celebration of local traditions and the fusion of ancient flavours with modern culinary techniques, creating a unique and authentic, contemporary experience.
A comfortably furnished, raised sunset area makes sundowners special.
Park fees and scheduled camp activities are included such as boat trip to see the fish traps, beach amenities with cool box and shade set ups and a snorkeling trip. Not included, but a must do, are the Turtle Tours with our excellent guide from mid- November to mid -March. There is also the option to meet locals and enjoy a shishanyama. The Wellness Spa caters for pampering on request.
Raised wooden walkways link the communal area to the suites. Accommodation has canvas walls, is spacious and gives the feeling of being a part of nature. Fans keep you cool and a charger point allows you to keep contact. Bathrooms have indoor and outdoor showers. All beds have mosquito nets.
Access is by 4×4 or Ubunye transfer.
