Waylands is a gracious heritage homestead on the northern slopes of the majestic Katberg mountain with 1100ha within the Post Retief Conservancy. This historic farm has been in the family for 6 generations.
The Art Nouveau manor house oozes colonial charm and has been beautifully restored and tastefully furnished with memorabilia, art and antiques. The mountain vistas, fiery sunsets and starlit skies are astounding. The farm boasts various heritage buildings and two impressive sites of San Rock Art. The Winterberg area is rich in history with 5 national monuments within 10kms. This area was important during the legendary Frontier Wars.

The Manor House is set in lovely gardens and guests can enjoy hiking on the estate, trout fishing, a prepared gourmet picnic for a gentle walk or just lazing by the sunny pool enjoying the mountain view.
Accommodation can be taken on a three course dinner, bed and breakfast basis or self catering. Meals are gourmet with many ingredients coming from the organic garden or locally sourced.
There are just 4 double bedrooms. If the Master Suite is reserved, guests may have the manor house to themselves.
Service is discreet, excellent and with attention to detail.

The farm boasts a wide range of game such as Kudu, Bushbuck, Waterbuck, Mountain Rhebuck, Duiker, Gruisbok, Warthog, Aardvark, Cape Clawless Otter, Honey Badger, Civet Cats, Lynx, Jackal, Black Eagle, Cape Eagle Owls etc. A game reserve is not too far away to view a greater range of game.
