The Postberg Section:
Only open during Flower Season in August and September. The rest of the year it is left untouched and safe from human interference.
This prime flower and game-viewing section is covered in colour during the spring flower flush. Fields of flowers and the ground beneath your feet is a patchwork quilt of vibrant, varied daisies and sporries which open gloriously on sunny days. Week to week the colours change as some varieties fade, and others pop up in their place.
This is the best place to see the Spring flowers. Try to get there early and on weekdays as it is a popular destination.
Special plea: Tempting as it is, please do not walk on or plonk yourself down in the middle of the flowers for a selfie or any other reason as it crushes and damages the flowers.
There is game here that hasn’t quite learned to shy away from humans. Keep an eye out for zebra, wildebeest, antelope, ostrich, mongoose, rock hyrax, snakes, birds, and tortoises. The picnic and braai spots along the coast are fantastic for whale watching.
En route to Tsaarsbank, which is 24km from the West Coast Gate – and 34.3km from the Langebaan Gate.
Note: Winter (April to August) closing time is an hour earlier at 18.00h.
