Cintsa or Chiintsa is a small, residential, pristine coastal town. It is the most southern town on the Wild Coast with 17kms of unspoilt beach, a pretty estuary and a pretty river to paddle on. The Kwela River is small with fantastic birdlife as there is lots of coastal forest. The town is spit by the river into a west and east side… actually it is better described as a north and south side. There are no shops here to attract any crowds, just a superette and lovely little places to eat plus a brilliant craft brewery with good food. In many ways Cintsa is like a small Garden Route town.
Take a brilliant ride along the beach with a horse rescue charity, go on a 4×4 Quad Bike Safari through a small private game and meet a tame giraffe. Try the zipline or archery.
The beach is lovely and uncrowded. There are sheltered swimming spots next to the lagoon or you have a forever choice of swimming places in the surf along with great rock pool exploration when the tide goes out. When conditions are right, surfing can be good too.
One of Cintsa’s advantages is that access is easy from the south with good roads and East London with an airport, makes flying in easy. The large town’s proximity, 35 minutes, gives some additional options for tourists. There is a fantastic hike and a cruise from the harbour to watch whales, in season, dolphin all year round and the Sardine Run.
