The Brass Bell is an institution and much loved by students, locals and tourists alike.

Originally a council tearoom in the 1930s, it is partly built right against 2 tidal pools in front, perched above rocks and sea on one side and adjacent to the working harbour on the other. This is one of Cape Town’s most spectacular restaurant situations.

A series of rooms and terraces gives you a choice of views, restaurant areas and pubs. Some are indoors with sea views, others outdoors at the waters’ edge. One venue may have live music, another is a great sports bar, another just the sound of the waves, if no one is talking! There is a theater here as well. It opens till late every night although last food orders are at 10.

You will not get fine dining but you will get good wholesome food from fresh, fresh seafood, to sushi to wood fired pizza, burghers, poultry and meat choices in a relaxed and rustic setting. You will also get a good buzzy atmosphere.
