For just a month over the Christmas holiday season, Horns Up opens.

With a great riverside position 5kms upstream on the Kariega River, this is The place to chill.

Access is by road with car, a good cycle ride from Kenton or by boat. Drinks are very chilled, it is tucked away out of the beastly easterlies and sunsets are great.

A short menu of good pub grub with seafood, pregos, salads and burgers adds to the charm of this place. It is the only place to be on New Year’s Eve.

Grab a hat or t-shirt to prove you have been and have your photo taken in front of the horns.

Look out for an occasional music evening.

Not to be missed is the Anything that Floats Festival. On the announced day, all gather at the Kariega Beach side of the river… and float, or sink in a few cases, on anything possible … all the way up river on the tide, to the Horns Up. It is a wonderful fun and colourful river celebration with an incredible variety of tubes, lilos etc. Thereafter, there is much obligatory partying!
