In picturesque setting, Le Lude wine farm crafts naturally, bottle-fermented sparkling wines, known as Cap Classique.

This family owned and run boutique winery is recognized as producing South Africa’s top Cap Classique.

Le Lude has also added to the range of Cap Classiques available in the country.

The Le Lude tasting room welcomes visitors in an elegant environment as tasteful and stylish as our range of Cap Classique wines.

Inspired by the best of contemporary French décor, using light and space to create a friendly, hospitable area with soft green panelling.

Cap Classique Tastings can be the Cap Classique options on their own, or better for your experience, you can order a choice of mainly savoury canape selections, a cheese selection or a sweet selection. These include baby spinach and Gruyere frittata, a baguette with whipped feta, roasted pear, tempura French beans, ginger glazed pork belly and triple chocolate Lamington.

Cellar Tours are: Taille: A 30 minute tour with paired tastings after, or Cuvee which gives you a good understanding of how Cap Classique is made. It includes tastings through the tour and ends with a delicious lunch with Cap Classique.

Allow time for a stroll around the farm, rich with not only grape vines, but fruit trees and fragrant roses.

Around the corner from the cellar, you’ll find the excellent Orangerie Restaurant.

A word about this family. Nick and Ferda Barrows fell in love with the Loire region on their travels, in particular, the lovely town Le Lude. They returned to South Africa to capture the spirit of the region in Franschoek. Ferda has the gift of nose, taste and skill to create and blend along with winemaker, Francois. Nick is the accountant and entrepreneur who has significantly added to the areas he has been involved with from a tourism and community perspective. Their daughters are integral to Le Lude. Talented Olga, an international London trained designer, helps create the décor and feel of Le Lude, and Nicolene, innovative chef who honed her skills under Michel Roux’s Le Gavroche, runs the Orangerie.
