Le Lude grows not only vines to provide for their award winning Cap Classique, but many fruits and vegetables such as pomegranates, aubergines and 3 types of fig. Their farm and location means that the food is seasonal and as locally sourced as is possible.
Chef Nicolene provides an exciting and sumptuous a la carte menu to suit all tastes. As a qualified chef, Nicolene worked in Michel Roux’s 2 Michelin Star, Le Gavroche. That training shows and diners regularly rate this as one of Franshoek’s top restaurants.
“The French cafe music really sets the mood on arrival and you are transported to France… The space is light with all white table clothes, white wicker chairs, high-rise arch glass panelled windows and an array of indoor plants. The striking black and white checkered marble floor really stood out…”
Memorable meals include Trio of Wild Mushroom Tortellini with Parmesan and pea shoots and Peking Duck Breast with duck confit croquette, fennel roasted carrot and delicious orange and duck jus.
Classic Crepe Suzette has a South African twist with the addition of kumquat.
