There are various villages on this Saunter with Hillcrest, now a fast growing little town swelled by those moving out of Durban and down from the Transvaal. In 30 years it has changed from a one robot (set of traffic lights) town to a nine robot town but there is somehow, still a village feel. It just means that the drive to Durban is no longer a necessity as most things can be found locally.
You are spoiled for choice of restaurants here and we have put in some of our favourites.
The artists and crafters range from a world famous sculptor and world famous glass blower to a leather worker making very good pouches for carrying wine when visiting your friends (as well as other items) in his back garden as a retirement hobby. On your Saunter to visit these studios, you will meet the artists and crafters themselves and find a fascinating group of people.
This Saunter also has a now well-loved Saturday market filled with artisan food stalls and crafts.
Perhaps the most important thing last: this is pony territory and includes pleasure riding, polo, and horse and jockey training areas. One of the things we will suggest… get an early start and have breakfast watching a thunder of training thoroughbreds appear out of the mist and gallop past.
In early January we will add some interesting activities for you to enjoy.
