The highlight of any trip to Cape Town has to walking to the lighthouses and looking down onto the swirling sea at Cape Point Nature Reserve. Kommetjie is a small, beach village with country vibes, ocean and mountain views to die for. Mostly un-touristy, it offers tranquillity. Our chosen places to stay: stunning barefoot luxury Last Word Long Beach and to self –caterer: Blue Mountain Alley.
A highlight is to visit the studios of Lauren Holmes, Purely Porcelain and mosaic artist, Reagan Rubain. Blue Water Café is a great stop to enjoy good casual Cape food.
The False Bay side of the peninsula has warmer waters and you are spoiled for choice of beaches. We suggest Smitwinkels Bay, Miller’s Point and Water’s Edge. Visiting Boulders Bay, home to a large colony of African penguins, is a memorable experience for the whole family.
Simon’s Town is renowned for its rich maritime history. The Royal Navy base was here and the Museum is worth a visit. Learn about Able Officer, Just Nuisance: a Great Dane who became an official member of the Royal Navy.
