Good binoculars are hugely important*

Camera with zoom lens

Spare batteries

Car phone charger

3-prong adapter/ car power bank/ extension lead

Good torch for around the camp

Gas lamp for the camp and chalets

For waterhole viewing: Very strong flashlight, preferably infrared for waterholes, and to cause minimal animal disturbance.

Medical travel kit

Tyre pump/deflator/compressor

Tyre repair kit

Shoes- closed for scorpions at night

Clothes you can layer as it cools rapidly. Include a very warm as well as a waterproof layer.

Hat and long scarf for neck protection.

Sunscreen, even in winter

Lip salve and moisture only eye drops

Good insect/mosquito repellent.

Mosquito net

Cooler box, loads of snacks and drinks for long waits at pans and waterholes.

A spare 10 litres of water for emergencies only

Daily water for drinking

Botswana Side-All water that you will need to use and drink 

Canister of spare petrol

Birding/ animal/astronomy books

Grass and seed net for under 4×4 possibly

Spade

Braaing- decide firewood/ charcoal or gas as firewood is heavy to transport.

Braai grid and starters.

Fire extinguisher possibly.
